Research Project - Epidemiology of FSHD
Fascioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD) is a debilitating life-long muscular dystrophy which affects an unknown number of Australians. Recent European research suggests it may be the most common of all dystrophies, but no detailed study has ever looked into how widespread the disease is in Australia.
Research proposals are called for a comprehensive population-based study to examine the prevalence and incidence of Fascioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD) in Australia.
Applications close Sunday 31 October, 2010.
Translational Research
The FSHD Global Research Foundation has placed a high priority on applications for funding of Translational Research. The Foundation has set aside funding and is calling for proposals by March 2010 that fit into the key identified priority areas of interest for Translational Research for a funding decision in October 2010.
Further to this, the Foundation has budgeted to provide matched funding for a Phase 1 Clinical Trial of a candidate FSHD therapeutic of up to an amount of US$400,000. Proposals are called for by March 2011 for a funding decision in October 2011.
