There is no treatment or cure for FSHD.
FSHD is the most common form of MD seen in adults, according to a recent Orphanet study.
FSHD affects both males and females of all races and age groups.
The cause of FSHD is unknown.
There are over 30 different types of MDs and they are all genetically different - a cure for one is not a cure for all.
To date, medications used for other MDs have had no benefits for FSHD patients.
There has been no direct Australian funding for FSHD research prior to FSHD Global establishment.
New estimates believe FSHD may affect 1:7500.
